La Bella Electric Bass Guitar Deep Talkin` Bass Standard, .045 - .105, Stainless Steel Flat Wound, 760FS

La Bella Electric Bass Guitar Deep Talkin` Bass Standard, .045 - .105, Stainless Steel Flat Wound, 760FSstar rating 5BassdogbillDecember 30, 2009I've been on a "quest" for the ideal flatwound string since I took up bass 5 years ago. My mentor gave me only five rules to follow: never play chords, never slap, mute more than you play, stick to passive basses, and only use LaBella flats. I mistakenly broke the last rule for about three years and tried everything I could get my hands on. For the last year, the 760FS set is the only thing I use, on all of my basses - fretted and fretless. They are the most expressive and musical I've tried for my playing. Bonus: they stay rock solid in tune, and, unlike me, age beautifully.

La Bella Electric Bass Guitar Deep Talkin` Bass Standard, .045 - .105, Stainless Steel Flat Wound, 760FSstar rating 5Mike HOctober 8, 2009I play a 62 reissue J bass, this guitar is everything you would expect a J bass to be, classic single coil tone, with lots of growl if you dial it in. I wanted to tame the beast a bit and warm up the tone without losing it. The 760 Standard Flats did the job very nicely. I'm now able to coax my J a lot closer to sounding like a P bass, for the old R&R thing, and turn the mids and highs up a bit and you have all the bite and growl you want, only with way more power behind it,due to the nature of these strings. My bass seems to stay tuned better, and for the first time, after intonation, the bridge saddles are in a more normal configuration in the bridge, not all over the place like before, with previous strings. These strings aren't for slapping, but that not what you buy flats for anyway. I live in Canada, and I tried to buy these strings for three months close to home, finally I was told that the strings had been discontinued, so maybe I'd like to buy a different string that they had in stock. That night I ordered them from Just Strings, and had them in my hands in just over two weeks. So big thanks to J.S. for the great service and great strings. Mike.
