I have always preferred the top half of an 011 to 049 set, and the bottom half of an 010 to 046 set. I play and teach the Chet Atkins and Merle Travis styles. The heavier tops give better harmonics, which is a key element in the styles. The lighter bottoms give a softer sound to the bass notes, so that they don't overwhelm the melody notes. Thanks, guys!!!
