I was a roundwound player that switched to flatwounds for their more mellow vintage sound. ( play classic rock). Flatwounds are, of course, stiff and can be dead sounding. I tried these and dig them. They are flexible and allow all sorts of gymnastics and have good sustain, but are not overly bright and ringy.

The initial high output and detail in the sonic spectrum dies after about four plays on them. Pity because they feel great- very flexible. On my vintage jazz bass, they sounded too quiet.
