DR Strings Electric Bass - Lo-Riders™ Stainless Steel Medium Lite, .045-.100, MLH-45star rating 4Mystic MichaelOctober 31, 2009After having tried a set of Lo-Riders nickel strings, which I found a little too subdued for my taste, I finally gave Lo-Riders one last shot, this time trying out the stainless steels. I'm glad I did. I generally dislike the "clanky" tone I get with stainless steels, but DRs are different. They get most of the zip and zing of steels, but with more of the warmth and body of nickelwounds. The relatively smooth texture is welcome as well. And in the case of the Lo-Riders specifically, the hexagonal core provides just enough stiffness to make 'em a great choice for playing fingerstyle modern rock on a fretted bass - which is exactly how I use them. I have no plans to invest in any more stainless steel strings - except for DR Lo-Riders.
