DR Strings Electric Bass - Hi-Beam™ Tite-Fit Stainless Steel Heavy, .050 - .110, ER-50star rating 4StudioCityBassPlayerOctober 17, 2010The DR brand is all about quality strings. They are all well made and reliably produce an identifiable sound. I would use them exclusively except they lose their zing pretty quickly if you play them a lot (and I do). I keep a set around for special gigs but use cheaper strings for most gigs/rehearsals. Can't say enough about their quality. They are A-One in my book.
DR Strings Electric Bass - Hi-Beam™ Tite-Fit Stainless Steel Heavy, .050 - .110, ER-50star rating 4LennyJuly 1, 2010Very good tone, stay in tune very well. They may take a bit getting used to as the have a slight "fine file" feel to them. This seems to go away after some playing. I have been using these for 3 years, now. I gave them a 4 star rating because on two occasions, after some "mileage", the "D string" seemed to go dead. This may be due to the hand made workmanship. All said, these give a nice responsive feel to my playing, and would recommend these to anyone that plays on the "harder style side".

They were just what I was looking for. On my main 4 string I use the Jamerson 54's flatwound. Very stiff string that you can really dig into. After playing those a while switching to my fiver with medium Hi-beams everything just felt flabby. This heavy set with the fattest B string they make has made me very happy. I can dig in to my hearts content.
