Very bright and tempermental out of the box though. They don't hold tune very well either until they break in after about a week. After that they are great. I find myself having to tune less with them. And the tone is warm/bright. That is a feat into itself! Thanx DR for REAL strings finally!

They were extremely bright out of the box, and I gave them about two weeks to try to "settle in", but they never really lost that brightness. I also thought they were really rough to the touch, which I'm not a big fan of. On another bass with more time to break in, I think these would fare better for me, but not in this case.
