D'Addario Mandocello Phosphor Bronze, .022 - .074, J78star rating 5A.W. FeidlerFebruary 28, 2010These strings have a great tone, but as far as i know, they only come in loop ends, so if you have an Eastman or an Ovation, you have some extra work in store for you. One fix i found, although it's time consuming, is taking the ball ends from a set of old guitar strings (my local music store gave me some discards) and wind the loops around the ball. One has to be very careful doing this, not to compromise the strength and integrity of the loop in the process. I weakened one enough that it broke immediately in tensioning. The others have held well though. Bottom line is, with more mandocello options, string makers need to accommodate for other tailpieces or instrument builders need to standardize the tailpieces to loop ends.
