D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat Wound Super Soft Long, .040 - .095, ECB80

D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat Wound Super Soft Long, .040 - .095, ECB80star rating 5DWNorrisJuly 11, 2011Just strings' price was great!! I like the distinctive sound that flat-wounds offer...more like a stand-up bass. I also like that they make no "noise" when sliding from one note to another on a single string like round-wounds do. I played a friend's bass that had these strings and had to get for myself!
D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat Wound Super Soft Long, .040 - .095, ECB80star rating 5DNorrisJuly 11, 2011Played someone else's bass with these strings and wanted them on mine...I like that they make no "noise" when sliding from one note to another on the same string. I like the distinctive sound they make too. More like an old stand up bass.

Really annoying. Otherwise, I get a sound from Chromes that no other flat gives me... I wish they sold singles and then I'd put a 55 for the D string.
D'Addario Electric Bass Chromes Flat Wound Super Soft Long, .040 - .095, ECB80star rating 3Jack BFebruary 6, 2011This set drives me crazy when I am doing solos or fast walking bass... going to or from the D string to any other string always screws me up. It is way too tight-feeling! Harder to pluck and harder to fret. So obnoxious. Other than that, the strings all have great tone and feel, but they need to be better balanced. I'd think D'Addario would understand this.

This is the first time I bought them from just strings.com I don't know if there is a shelf life on them but the strings appeared to be aged although in a sealed unopened package. I have used the .045 - .100 size but these are much better for my setup, twin Ampeg stacks and a Rickenbacker bass. The larger size puts out to much bass for my style.
