C.F. Martin Acoustic Marquis Folk Guitar Silk & Steel Compound Wound, .0115 - .047, M-1400star rating 5MarkAugust 25, 2011My 1930 vintage 2-17 Martin guitar is lightly built, and steel lower strings greatly overpower the trebles. I was concerned that the lesser string tension of the silk and steels would yield an unresponsive 2-17 considering its short scale, but in fact the sound is balanced and gorgeous. Great fingerstyle strings, also good for light strumming.

Martin Acoustic Marquis Folk Guitar Silk & Steel Compound Wound, .0115 - .047, M-1400star rating 5JimMarch 21, 2010Take an old guitar you have and add the S&S strings to mellow out any 'harshness' in the guitar's sound. Great for fingerpicking, S&S puts less tension on the guitar and they give a warm and mellow tone. They last quite a long time and they come in 6 or 12 string sets. Try 'em.
C.F. Martin Acoustic Marquis Folk Guitar Silk & Steel Compound Wound, .0115 - .047, M-1400star rating 4SammyMarch 11, 2010These strings are absolutely beautiful. They are great for any type of acoustic playing you can think of from traditional style flat picking to what ever you would call what Tommy Emmanuel does. They have a great sound that doesn't alter over time. OVERALL I highly recommend these.
